June 30th, 2011 my mom officially retired from NMC, after 32 years of service. She helped raise more then 48 million dollars for the college. For all the hard work, a Kathleen Guy Scholarship was endowed in her name for those less fortunate to receive a full scholarship to attend college. A huge accomplishment and honor. With a guest list of 1200, MANY came and showed their respect and support for all my mom has done for NMC. It was truly a memorable night for her, and my entire family.

My mom received a custom painting just for her, as a retirement gift :)

So many people love her, it was amazing to hear such kind words from those who have worked with her over the years.

My grandpa (her father) was SO proud. He was the very first president of Westshore Community College. Like father like daughter....true hard workers.

It was an emotional night for all of us. My mom is so happy.....and her kleenex is ready!

Bruce Byl spoke so highly of my mom. In true Kathleen Guy form....he put on her "signature" red and gold glasses to give his speech. My mom is known for those glasses. She went out with a bang, earning award after award, including the Athena Award back in May. My mom will never STOP working, but she can leave NMC knowing she made a huge impact on the community and helped so many students find their way. Happy Retirement mom!!!
